The Healing Powers of "NEEM"

The Neem tree, which is a botanical cousin of mahogany, is well established in 30 countries but is native to India and Burma. It has an almost magical effect on chronic skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, scabies, acne, wrinkles, skin cancer, herpes and dermatitis. As well as doing wonders for chronic skin conditions, it is just as beneficial in the treatment of burns, diaper rash, sunburns as well as helping to heal simple cuts and abrasions. It has the ability to increase vascular permeability and increase blood flow around a wound and helps the body rapidly create collagen fibers to close the wound. The seeds, bark and leaves contain compounds with proven antiseptic, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and immune enhancing properties among others.

Neem has been a major ingredient in skin care products of India for over 4,000 years. Its skin healing properties are outlined in some of the earliest Sanskrit writings. It aids in reducing fine lines and wrinkles by providing a natural moisturizer. Neem Oil is absorbed quickly and is beneficial in recovering the natural balance to dry skin. Applied to the scalp; extracts and oils can be used in the control of dandruff. Neem contains some of the most powerful anti-fungal plant extracts that are available for the control of fungal skin diseases that affect humans, including those that cause athletes foot, ringworm and Candida. Even today, India's Neem tree is known as the "Village Pharmacy" because of its miraculous healing powers. Neem can be found in a variety of products such as Vegicapsules, toothpaste, certain varieties of hand soaps, as well as an extract or a cold pressed oil.

Entomologists have seen remarkable results in the control of more than 200 species of insects using this natural pesticide. It has been used safely for centuries to repel and disrupt their growth and reproduction. Neem is an effective and desirable alternative to synthetic insect repellents because it is a natural vegetable oil; it has been proven to repel annoying and dangerous insects including the mosquito for up to twelve hours.

Antioxidants in Dark Chocolate

Many university studies including Harvard have show that eating chocolate is good for you. Researchers have found that raw and / or minimally processed cocoa contains flavonoids similar to those found in green tea. Cacao nibs are the center of the cacao bean, found within the large pod of fruit of the Theobroma cacao tree. Nibs are small pieces of raw organic cacao or chocolate, which come from the cacao tree. High nutritional value and many health claims, 300 chemical compounds, more antioxidants and magnesium than any other food per gram.

Cacao contains more than 300 phytonutrients, including high levels of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. There are two different kinds of flavonoids called catechin and epicatechins. Catechins, which have recently been found to be abundant in cocoa and minimally processed chocolate could guard against heart disease and cancer, as well as boosting the immune system. Chocolate is also a good source of copper and magnesium, which helps to regulate heartbeat and blood pressure, benefiting the circulatory system, brain function and memory.

Dark chocolate has a high concentration of flavonoids and it is these flavonoids that are thought to reduce blood pressure by increasing the production of nitric oxide, a substance that causes blood vessels to widen and relax. Cacao contains a wide array of unique properties and minerals, including high levels of sulfur and magnesium. It may increase your focus and alertness and contains nutrients to keep you happy. Chocolate and cacao are often associated with love. All this is due to phenylethylamine contained in the cacao. Anandamide can be produced in the brain when we are feeling great; cacao makes anandamide stick around longer.

Cacao may seem to diminish your appetite, perhaps due to its MAO inhibitors (monoamine oxidase enzyme inhibitors). Cacao’s rare MAO inhibitors may allow serotonin and additional neurotransmitters to circulate in the brain. Think of chocolate as nature’s antidepressant and include it in your diet. It is a divinely, smooth and delicious gift of health, happines, longevity and love.

The Therapeutic potential of honey

Researchers believe that the therapeutic potential of honey is grossly underutilized. With increasing interest in the use of alternative therapies and as the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria spreads, honey may finally have its due recognition as a wound healer.

Raw honey makes a sterile, painless and effective wound dressing. Only unfiltered, unheated, unprocessed raw honey should be used as any processing destroys its healing qualities. It should be stored at room temperature. Honey has the ability to kill bacteria. Apply it directly to abrasions, and burns and cover with a piece of gauze. The results will occur quicker than with conventional salves and creams.

A bacteriologist at the Agriculture College in Colorado tried to grow certain diseases in honey as an experiment. The honey killed all the microorganisms. Typhoid, A and B typhosus, bowel bacteria, broncho-pneumonia bacteria, peritonitis, pleuritis, and suppurative abscesses bacteria all died as did the dysentery-pneumonia bacteria. These tests were duplicated in Canada and Washington, D.C. producing the same results. BURNS-apply freely over burns. It cools, removes pain and aids fast healing without scarring. Bacteria simply cannot survive in honey.
