Chia (Salvia hispanica L.) seed is the richest plant source of omega-3 fatty acids known and contains natural antioxidants. There are two seed colors, white and black and they both contain the same amount of omega-3, protein, fiber etc.
Chia seeds can be consumed directly and does not need to be ground like flax. The omega-3 daily intake recommended is 4 grams approximately 2 tablespoons of seed.
Chia seeds will stay in good condition at room temperature for several years. Can be made into gel and consumed like a smoothie or grown on terra cotta saucers when kept moist.
