Alfalfa is one of the basic seeds for sprouting. The high nutritional value and good taste make it perfect for adding to sprout mixes as well as for use by itself. The roots of a mature plant can grow several meters into the earth, absorbing hard to find trace elements. The seeds then store these nutrients until the seed is sprouted. These trace elements are then prepared for digestion. The sprout grows from 1" to 3" and produces a green sprout.
